A NEW TWO-YEAR MASTER’S PROGRAM IN ENGLISH NOW AVAILABLE AT THE FACULTY OF LAW IN PRAGUE!
The Faculty of Law at Charles University has introduced a new follow-up Master’s program taught in English. Under the leadership of Prof. Kristina Koldinská, coordinator for foreign-language programs at the Faculty of Law, this brand-new program received accreditation in the autumn of this year, and applicants can already submit their applications.
The program Specialised Law Studies, open to anyone who has already obtained a bachelor’s degree in law or related fields, focuses on law in its European and international context. In addition to a common core, the program is divided into three different specializations:
- Business and Competition Law focuses on key topics of commercial law and competition law. Students will learn about the legal regulation of business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, as well as competition regulation at national, European, and global levels.
- Human Rights Law is designed for those interested in the protection of human rights. It covers European and international enforcement mechanisms, judicial protection, and addresses specialized areas such as migration law and the status of minorities.
- Health Law offers a deeper understanding of the legal aspects of healthcare. It focuses on healthcare regulation, bioethical issues, patient rights protection, and health law in both European and global contexts.
Here is a comment by Prof. Koldinská on the new program: “The program is intended for applicants who wish to expand their expertise in specialized areas of law with a strong international and European orientation and who aim to succeed in a demanding professional environment. We expect graduates of the new program to find employment in both the private and public sectors abroad and in the Czech Republic. However, this follow-up Master’s program will not replace the five-year Master’s degree in law required by law for the practice of regulated legal professions in the Czech Republic.”
Applicants can find more information about this program in the relevant section on the faculty’s website. The Faculty of Law accepts applications until April 30, 2026.
