Night of Faculty
Night of Faculty
Join Us for Faculty Night!
What does that mean? It means you get to experience the unique student festival at the Faculty of Law, Charles University—and this year, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary!
This year’s edition kicks off with two pre-events on November 2 and 3, leading up to the main evening on November 4.
Faculty Night opens with a series of expert lectures and panel discussions covering unusual topics—ranging from current legal issues to social phenomena and real-world stories presented by experts from legal and non-legal fields alike.
As night falls, the faculty comes fully alive! You’ll find a wide variety of activities:
-
Sports & Fun: Table football, ping-pong, and the popular Pub Quiz.
-
Music & Dancing: The traditional Silent Disco taking over an entire floor, plus live music performances by top-secret artists at the pool area.
-
Culture & Wellness: Theater performances, slam poetry, and—for the first time ever—yoga sessions!
-
Exploration: Night tours of the faculty building, giving you a peek into hidden spots normally closed to the public.
Faculty Night isn’t just about the schedule—it’s about you. It’s about bringing together people who want to experience the faculty differently. Thanks to this community, the event even survived times when meeting in person wasn't possible.
A Decade of Memories & Growth
Over the years, Faculty Night has been through a lot. Despite hopeful summer expectations, COVID-19 and lockdowns returned one autumn, forcing the already-planned Faculty Night 2.0 back online. Yet, teachers and students connected via livestreams to discuss the first Czechoslovak constitution, the rule of law, or the "Jungle Book" of the new Building Act.
Five years flew by, bringing another election season and another edition of late-night lectures. We were finally able to return to the Faculty of Law in person—enjoying debates, concerts, and tours of secret basements and attics.
This year marks the third edition under the leadership of Pavel Linzer. Over the years, hundreds of speakers from inside and outside the faculty have taken the stage. Hundreds of volunteers have joined the organizing team—without whom Faculty Night couldn’t exist, and to whom we owe immense thanks. Ultimately, Faculty Night has become a beloved tradition that thousands of students and alumni cannot imagine autumn without.
And to top it off, we are starting two days earlier this year, bringing you three times the excitement! Make sure to join us for our pre-events!
